Use webpages to query MS SQL 2005 Database

Post icon  Posted 09 October 2008 - 10:24 AM

My background is VB6. I am installing Visual Studio 2008 Standard Edition. I need to be able to access Microsoft SQL Server and do queries. Is this the proper software development package I should be using? Where should I begin? This website will just be internal with just a couple people accessing it. Maybe I should just create a standalone application. I would really like to use a webpage. Thanks for your response.

Here is a tutorial on SQL Basics in VB.NET that will help you get started with connecting to a SQL database and querying it for data. This code will work essentially the same with a web based application, since of course the same VB.NET is used to ASP.NET pages as with Windows applications.

Since you're doing this web based I'm going to move this to the ASP.NET forum :)

Happy Coding!
