Hey all,

so here's the deal, as part of the honors college here at my school I am required to complete a project of fairly high content. It is basically supposed to be a reasonably involved project and of respectable merit and should be pretty showy. Now, I'm asking all of you if you have any good ideas for a project that revolve around the Computer Science field. I figure that since that is my major I should do something with it. Do any of you have any ideas for solid projects that would be decently interesting?? More abstract is better in this case, as it has to be something no one else has done before... I'll take any ideas!!

Would greatly appreciate some input on the matter.

What courses have you taken? Which course was your favorite? What roughly are the boundaries? Gotta know what you're good at and if you have any ideas on your own maybe help you tweak the ideas into something new?!

So far I have Taken a few java programming class and a web programming class. I enjoyed the web programming a bit more, and i also took web design classes in high school.

I could use a bit more detailed information. What did the courses cover?
I would definitely recommend doing the project in java and not in some web programming language.

Have you read anything about data structures or algorithms, cryptograpy? Anything more specific than just Java..

You could make an applet for a website.
Maybe use it as some sort of navigation.

Hi there,

I would choose some project related to web 2.0. You can do it as big as you want, so as complex.

I don't know if you have heard about "mashup", but try to search for it. It's kind of mixing different technologies up (using API's from different places, such as LastFm, Google, YouTube, FaceBook, Government website...).

Nowadays I think is a good choice, and also you can add some Machine Learning algorithms to treat data mining and so.

Im also struggling to get an idea for my Final year project. Im interested in A.I. i wud b hapi to code some pretty rational agent. Question wud b wat shud this agent do? I subscribe to the thot that Computer Science seeks to address problems, im therefore looking 4 an idea that seeks to address a problem with an A.I solution. Can program in Java, C#, C/C++, VB.Net, Databases (ORACLE/SQL Server), ASP.Net.

PLiz help.
