*sigh* why is there no networking forum? */sigh*
i have two computers that i want to connect so that I can use the one printer that i have on both of them. one is running win 95 the other is running win 2000.
can i just connect the two with a cat5 cable?
please help the unknowledgable (in networking, anyways)....

Yes You can connect the 2 computers with just one cable. Just make shure that it is a Crossover cable. and as long as the 2 computers are in the same workgroup (case sensitive) with diffrent workstation names. the windows default ip addresses should be sufficiant to let work em
on win95 to change a workstation name right click on network neighborhood ensure that tcpip is installed for the Eathernet adaper click on Identification and enter your workstation name and workgroup
on win2k right click on my computer, click on properties , click on network identification, click on properties and then enter your workstation name and workgroup
