Vaune, I would argue that art has an intrinsic value completely removed from the beholder. I would also say that the designation of art comes from the true intent of the artist.
If someone takes a picture of gangbanging with the honest intent to show the living environment in the slums then that would be art. However, if someone takes the same picture with the intent of reliving the excitement of being a pimp and then calls it art I would say that it's not truly art.
