Best Laptop

It starts getting confussing when you ask a sales person what do I need for a good gaming laptop.
Some say spend extra on a good graphics card, other say more ram, fast cpu and motherboard.
All things considered isn't your system only as good as your weakest link?

Hard drive and ram can usually be fairly easily and cheaply upgraded. The CPU can sometimes be upgraded. The graphics card is often fixed. I'd go for the best graphics card and cpu combo and run with that you can upgrade the ram later if needed.

Well the weakest link in this case would have to be the part that says "gaming" and "laptop" in the same sentence. Gaming usually means you need the best parts and the best cooling. Laptop normally means low power and highly portable. When the 2 mix you get in some cases a giant beast that can handle it, which costs thousands, normally upwards of 3K, while most of the time it leads to upset when you realize that your laptops battery lasts for 1 hour when playing on low specs.

You also do not mention a budget, So if you are going cheap, I would say your really out of luck if your looking to play the intense games of today and tomorrow. Otherwise anything will do as long as the graphics card and CPU are ok. Also make sure you get a large battery as laptops are low power and graphics cards and CPUs running on high will drain the battery in no time.

I would suggest Dell's XPS.

As you say, any PCs performance is only really as good as its weakest link but in the case of a gaming laptop you'll normally find as ferrari says that the weakest link is power. The battery isn't going to last long with high performance components.

That being said, I'd look at Rocks line up of high performance kit, some of those things are desktop killers!
