My dvd rom can read both a cd and a dvd. But when I try to play the dvd it freezes my computer up and won't let me shut down or anything. I really don't know what to do..

what program are u using to play the DVD, and which Os is it on

definitely don't play a DVD before you intend on shutting down.

okay here it is... I run window's media player or intervideo dvd... and I don't shut it down, but when it freezes..I want to restart it.. it just freezes.. I really don't know what to do.. I am running xp home... I am so clueless...

my laptop when playing videos full screen, freezes sometimes, but never with a dvd, whats your computer specs
