I like to be able to hear things around me, but it isn't that important to me. I just don't wan to be snuck up on. So I go for medium, soft if I am suspicious.

I love it as loud as possible, but while I live in an apartment building, if the people 3 houses down can hear it, so can about 200 apartments and I prefer to not get evicted. Loud during daylight hours has to suffice for now.
