Visual Studio 2008 for mobile devices

Posted 21 November 2008 - 05:28 PM

I just installed vs 2008 and started looking in to options for smartphones or pda development.

Does anyone on here use VS 2008 to develop apps for phones or PDA's? I would like to learn what type of native support is available for vs, so far it looks like all it can produce is code for mobile pocket pc 5.0 devices.

I'm probably missing something and would like to hear what other people are doing or even just some good links or info.

Thanks!

I don't even know if I'm asking the right questions here so forgive me if I sound like a complete idiot k?

One of the widget apps I am planning would only really work on a pda or a really good smartphone device hence I am looking for info on what mobile pda or phone devices people are targeting with VS.

I am looking things up on the net but hitting some roadblocks in my quest since everything under the sun (coughpuncough) is being called a smart phone including the iphone.

I'm thinking a good pda phone combo is the best target for my plans but my options in that arena aren't entirely clear to someone just picking up VS 2008.

So again forgive me if this is a stupidly phrased question or if it has already been addressed in a format I didn't recognize or wasn't able to find on here by all means plz point me in that direction.

Kool?

The applications developed for mobile devices using Visual Studio are targeting Windows Mobile, Pocket PC and some Windows CE devices.

You can visit Windows Mobile developer center for more information:
http://msdn.microsof...le/default.aspx

For example, the devices listed on the page below are using Windows Mobile, so they are .NET Compact Framework (the subset of the .NET Framework used for mobile applications) compliant.
