I've been looking into buying a USB hard drive, but I wanted the opinion of some dic members. Specifically, I'm looking at a 128MB that is both USB and USB 2.0 compatable. I've looked at bestbuy.com, tigerdirect.com, and compusa.com, but haven't found much that I would want to invest my money in. Does anyone have a USB drive that you're happy with? If so, please let me know what brand it is. I appreciate it. Thanks.

before you go out and buy the newest uber leet thing (if you considor a usb drive leet
) ask yourself if you really need one..
Surley a normal hard drive, would take up less space AND probablly cost less.. So why get a usb drive when you can purchase a normal one?

128MB???
Why not just go with compact flash or something, or did you mean 120gb? I'm confused!

We use a Buslink 120gb USB 2.0 drive for backups at work, and Ive never had a problem with it, works great.

i know what he's talkin about, its a hard drive (yes 128MB) and its no bigger than your finger. It's fast, its small, and just plain easy to use. if you want a simple alternative to floppies, cds, zipdisks and the like, the flashdrive is the way to go. i bought mine from Butterfly Media, works like a charm
it looks like this:

Yeah, thats not a USB Hard Drive, thats a thumb USB dongle. Hard drives have physical disks and such.
I've actually never seen a thumb drive with a transfer rate above 1Mb/s so getting USB2 would be pointless since USB1 goes at 11Mb/s peak.

hmm for 35 bucks from new egg I might have to pick up one
with that sneakernet to my house in the evening as 128mb over dial up is kindof slow and I hate firing up my laptop to read a cdr on the desktop. Maby I need to get a new dvdrom drive while im at it to replace the flaky one I have.

Sorry, I should have specified a thumb/pen drive.
Trakker: Thanks, I'll take a look at that
