Emails going to Junk folder-

Post icon  Posted 28 November 2008 - 10:09 PM

I wasn't sure where to put this thread but anyway..

I started up a vb forum a few months ago and I recently set up email verification to try and stop registration bots. I figured out that most of my emails were going to peoples junk folder especially with yahoo accounts.

I have reverse DNS set up for my host IP so thats not the problem. I know yahoo take a while to register your domain as a non-spam domain but its been 3 months now and I have about 15% of registered users awaiting email confirmation.

Any ideas?

Just to be sure can you give us the URL to verify this?

Also, how are the emails being sent? Can you provide the function/code?

I'm pretty sure, my host confirmed it for me today - www.konoha-village.com - and what do you mean how are they being sent? I wouldn't know where to find the code for the email script.

Without knowing how these emails are being sent... it's rather hard to help trouble shoot the issue. Since it sounds to me like you have hosted service, check with them on what platform they are sent, & why they might be black listed. If they are being sent via PHP, then the PHP.ini must reflect the correct host in the "from".

yeah we're hosted with wiredtree. I think thats how our emails are sent - through PHP , its not SMTP. I can't think of any reason we would be blacklisted, we are on a VPS so we have our own ip.

Well, again, without any detail, it's hard saying. You're best bet is asking them since it's their server & it's their code. If you wrote the code that is sending the email, that would be a different story. Since you can't provide that code, then I'll assume you don't have access to it, let alone didn't write it.

Your assumption would be correct, I'll ask them about it and see what they say, thanks.
