Maybe his school has a deal with Adobe to get stuff for free.
I know my new school does. You can get Adobe CS4, Acrobat Pro, etc for free.

The adobe apps aren't that demanding for the most part. Granted I'm still on CS3.

well i know i'd never even install photoshop on my lappy. but i figured he must run at least 1 or 2 of those at the same time if such large and quick access is necessary.

Yeah thats what our school has (: I only ever really use Photoshop and Dreamweaver, but hey. There nice to have if I ever need them.
