I just noticed on Google that today is MC Escher's Birthday, and that got me thinking, who is my favorite artist(s).
Salvador Dali: I like the way that he mixes realistic landscapes with surreal objects, kind of puts life into perspective sometimes.
MC Escher: Something about the looping makes me think about the mathematical and scientific (im)possibilities.
Monet: I saw some of his stuff when I was living in Chicago as a kid, I have loved it ever since.
So what about you? Who/why does so-and-so inspire you?
Your InspirationWho made you want to become artistic?

no one person really made me want to become artistic. i've just always been a bit egotistical and people like that normally like to create things.

When i was in europe, in France i went to the Picasso museum, and im no art buff, but i found it very very cool. Not just the way he draws for perspective, but what he draws.
i also found it strange that he named the paintings after what was in it.... i mean exactly
if there was a picture of a man and a tree, the painting would be entitled "man and tree"

i never wanted to be artistic. the pay is not all that great and i could make a much better living doing something else. i do what i do cuz i don't do nothing else.
on the plus side, i get to wear as much black as i want and listen to pretentious music. and drive a station wagon. damn, being an artist is swanky.

After a couple years of doing "low-brow" advertising design (ie. Auto Trader), I got inspired by seeing my first Attik layout. Its not much now (may not have been that then) but it did change how I saw what I do (for better or worse).

i am serious
i was never big on art before that, but his paintings are just so amazing and misunderstood. I would say he is the best artist ever to have lived.
