So, I was just using my computer, and then it shuts off without warning. However, the green power light is still on. I look at the back of the power supply, and there's a red light on the power supply. I opened up my computer, and disconnected all of the power cables, and the red light was still on. I'm going to assume that the red light should not be red.
I got this power supply for cheap off the internet from geeks.com, so I'm not 100% positive it was a great power supply to begin with.
So, now I have some questions for you guys, assuming that the PS is bad.
I have a high end graphics card that says it requires >= 450W, and 26A on the DC rail.
That card is definitely the biggest power sucker in my system, so by the time those reqs are met, I think the rest of my system will have enough power.
Most power supplies I've looked at offer multiple DC rails, but each rail has less than 26A; about 15 is a pretty standard number. Is that OK if I give the graphics card a dedicated DC rail, and the split the remaining rail(s) between the rest of the system?
