Where's Winter?

Posted 14 December 2008 - 04:45 PM

I don't know about where you live, but here it's about 60 degrees outside and just a few days ago the high was like 70 something. I cannot believe it's the middle of December. Last year, it was like 30 all throughout December, and when i was a little boy (which was just a few years ago since i'm a teen), we would get like 5 inches of snow every December here. I guess that's global warming for ya. I'll probably have an 80 degree Christmas this year. I can remember when i would look out outside and see the snow falling, sipping a cup of hot chocolate with mini marshmallows in it. Now, we're very lucky if we get an inch of snow. I don't live in Jamaica or anything, just in central US. What about you?

Global warming is a lie. The hottest year on record EVER was 1998 (oddly enough when Gore was still in the White House). It has cooled every year since then.

i live in Central Eastern Canada...we have about 2-3 feet of snow on the ground, but it varies wildly by area...just 300 miles away, the green grass is still there.

Haha ya I hear you guys got alot of snow. Right now in the west it's about -30 degrees and snowing, but I'm hoping for the chinook. As for you people down there in the states with the warm weather. I envy you... haha. but I do like the cold every once and a while.

Yeah.. I'm not sure what you are talking about, but global cooling is my fear.

Granted yesterday I did my shopping in shorts and sandles (it was about 50), this morning I woke to -11 wind chill.

Oh, and quick view of the weather right now.. yup -17 (degrees Fahrenheit) wind chill...

I'm in Western Pennsylvania... and the winter has been pretty standard so far.... 6 inches of snow.... full melt..... freezing rain..... 6 more inches of snow.... full melt..... it's a vicious, ugly cycle. I hate winter.

The high for Washington, DC tomorrow is 63F. In the middle of December. I just hope it's that warm for the inauguration, and not William Henry Harrison weather.

I think i found winter. I just watched the news, a huge cold front is comming through tonight. Temperatures are going to be at a high in the teens tomarrow, and for all of next week. The weather lady said "It hardly felt like December, but now winter's here." Don't know how much snow we'll get, but at least we'll have a cold Christmas.

Well, winter of the kind where it doesn't actually snow, it's just freezing and unpredictably rainy, may be found here in England. It rained for the full 24 hours of Saturday this weekend, and although it didn't rain much Sunday, it was damn freezing with the damp wind which chills your bones. If London wasn't such a cool place to live, I'd surely have sought out a better climate by now...
