I dont get it, why run linux for a desktop machine when its quite clear Windows has far advantages over Linux as a Home computer for general use...
Linux however, is a great os for development, and for a server.. but yeah.. i just cant see myself struggling in alinux gui browsing the net in a shitty browser when i have windows.

shitty browser, i use Mozilla Firebird, for both Windows and Linux, Sloth has the same, in my experience it is about 2x as fast as IE, and i use Linux for most of my desktop stuff, I pretty much use windows only as a gateway (cause im on MSN dailup) to my linux network, for games, and dreamweaver, and DirectX programming, everything else is so much faster on linux, and in my experience Linux has never crsahed on me
what main desktop stuff do you think windows has over linux?

yo no prob. I'll like to finish it first tho (the wallpaper bit at least)... still a few bugs with the menu...
don't fullscreen SWFs on an active desktop slow the hell out of your processor? they do for me.
it's not fullscreen... i have the jpgs at the resolution at which I have my desktop... the .html file placed on the active desktop has a table sized to 100% wifth and 100% height.. wich of course, when opened fills the screen....
this way flash doesn't have to do anything.. resizing or "fullscreen'ing" which drastically saves on processor... and there are no animations in this thing... click = instant open.
of course, i'll have to think of a way of making this suitable for different resolutions....
BTW:: I've got a shit load of work at home AND at work so I don't see this being finished for some time

I use Firebird now too (thanx to a post somewhere on this forum)... I have IE, Opera and Firebird on win2k and Netscape, Opera and Firebird on Linux... On win2k Opera is much faster than IE and Firebird is faster than Opera... while on Linux, Opera is much faster than win version, and Firebird is about the same as win version (on my linux anyway).... PLUS! Opera and Firebird look much, much, much better
IE sux...

Well, for the shit I mainly use my computer for:
Games, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, any Visual design tool.
When im on a computer its for either of these:
Work(which means i need to open up dreameaver/photoshop, or illustrator), Chatting with Friends, or the Internet.
why use a OS that doesnt support the work catagorey? Until dreamweaver, and photoshop are made for linux, im not switching to it as a main system, and it will be used what its good for.. a testing server.
