2009: The Road Ahead

Posted 23 December 2008 - 09:35 PM

Every year around this time I do a predictions thread where I predict where we'll be in a year.

Here were my predictions for 2008:

Quote

~135,000 members
~250 New Members/day (by end of year)
~5 New Tutorials/week
~15 New Snippets/week
~1,250,000 Page Views/month
~600,000 Unique Visitors/month
~450 Posts/day

So let's take stock of where we are today:

144,316 Members (today)
400+ New Members/day (1 month average)
At least 5 tutorials/week
At least 15 snippets/week
2,500,000 Page Views/month (can we say DOUBLE?!)
1,250,000 Unique Visitors/month (DOUBLE again!?)
800-1000 Posts/day (This is AWESOME)

Alright, so here's my predictions for 2009:

380,000 Members
700 New Members/day
10 Articles/Week
30 Snippets/Week
10 Tutorials/Week
5,000,000 Page Views/Month
2,500,000 Unique Visitors/Month
1,500 Posts/Day

The statistics presented actually denote that the Dream.In.Code community is very active and has a solid reputation (as it attracts many people to find the programming information they need). I wish your predictions for the next year to become like you mentioned and even better.

Good job, Dream.In.Code team!
Keep up the good work!

I think those predictions are more than possible the way things are going now. The new server will definitely help support those predictions, and with you as our fearless leader the sky's the limit to where DIC can go

Wow, those are some pretty ambitious figures but I'm certain we'll achieve them.

Another thing, I hate it when Chris makes a statement to everyone that </dream.in.code> has something+ members before there are that many members on the counter.

That is too bad, RodgerB. It is those forecasts that help business owners make decisions on how effective marketing campaigns are doing and to help determine the budget for the upcoming year. It would be very difficult to run a business without doing some forecasting.

If you're talking about the video on the homepage, We'll have 150,000 members within a couple weeks. I think my MySpace profile says we have 75,000 members, so it balances out ;)

I highly doubt this.

why? the site's exponential growth dictates that to be a rather conservative estimate.

I think those estimates are low, /sentence.

I hate that phrase. I recommend for no one to use it because it literally says, "I'm never honest and I'm being honest with you now once."
