Anyone know which chat clients have the best file xfer support?

I transfer files between myself and out of state people from home and big files are getting to be tiresome with one person needing to upload to server and wait, then other person needing to download and wait.

We want to stream file between us and be able to chat while doing so about the stuff we are working on. Most IM clients have some file size limitation and needing to break file up in multi-rar format isn't the worst thing but one more step we are trying to take out of the process.

Encryption would be nice but isn't a showstopper, built in rar password is usually protection enough for what we are sending.

Well it's pretty convenient if all of your machines have SSH servers, and you don't mind using the command line. Also, everything that passes through it is encrypted.
ssh <remote ip address> "cat archive.rar" > archive.rar
It would require one/both of you to run SSH servers though, and that doesn't sound like something you are able or want to do.

In the past I've used AIM for file transfers to most of my friends. Usually the files are small, but if they're not I will break them up into compressed archives using something like Uharc.

There are services like YouSendIt that I have used before, they work pretty well if you don't mind uploading your data to someone else's server (but that's what encryption is for ).

Also found this claiming that Yahoo messenger supports 2gb file transfers, which should be more than enough for most things.

well setting up a server is more than i wanted to do for a file transfer, not sure why it sounds like I'm not able to but thanks for the idea.
