The french are Britains neighbours, and most of us hate them for no good reason :\

I, on the other hand, love france and french people. France is a beautiful place, especially central france, and the people I have met over there were all perfectly normal and nice. Sure you get the occasional idiot who graffiti's graveyards and annoys Britain and America, but just like in your own country they are a few people who are idiots. They don't make the whole of france hate you, get over it.

And if you don't like the french because of all the anti french crap that's going on becuase they didn't agree to going to war with Iraq, then get over that too. It's rubbish. If anyone needs some hating it's the fools who initiate the anti-french crap.

And saying you hate the french is indeed the same as saying you hate black people, except you don't get in trouble for it... stupid twisted world  .

The French government disagreed with the war in Iraq mostly to protect their own interests--oil contracts. Of course, the administration of the U.S. doesn't want the French disapproval to negatively reflect on the campaign for war (no administration would so let's not turn this into a partisan-bashing thread) and they play off of the American nationalism that still lingers from 911. By using jokes, political cartoons, and other propaganda, the government has succeeded in discrediting the French. In the end, neither government had very good intentions as far as this goes, did they?

As far as the French ban on the term e-mail...that's stupid; of course, that's not to say that "freedom fries" wasn't. Our relationship with France has always been love-hate and I would assume that it always will be. Wow. Normally I never get involved in these political threads :) But I just had to share :)
