Notebooks.

Posted 18 July 2003 - 07:45 PM

So, I'm going to buy a notebook in the next month or two (picked up extra hours all summer to save for one) I've been looking at the Dell Inspiron 5100 or an HP Pavillion model (5xxx series most likely) anyone have any experiences (good or bad) with these models? got a great new model to try out? im willing to give everything a look at least. im looking for something in the 1.8 or greater Ghz area. 1.8 is fine though. 512 ram and a 30 gig drive. after that its all really in the air. and i am willing to buy refurbished as long as it has a warranty from either the manufacturer or the place selling it.

Is This A Good Question/Topic? 0

What is your price range? You are probably looking for a portable PC, with college coming and whatnot...
I would say that Sagar(The same base as teh alienware notebooks) would be good if you want to sacrifice portability for power.
What is your price range? The toshiba Satellites are nice: http://www.csd.toshi...&pfam=Satellite

its the Dell Inspiron 5100, i spend around 1300 but i added a bigger HD and the 15" LCD more ram, i think its like 999 normally though, with a 20gig HD 13" LCD and 128mb ram.

Get the dell, or you may want to check into the gateway solo 500 series we have been getting them in at work and they seem to be holding up rather nicely all for about $1600 and they have better stuff in em then my 51-m. http://www.gateway.c...roddetail.shtml
It is worth it My alienware51-m is crap been in service longer then I Have been able to play with it. and now the damn thig is behind on the times with video. worst 3 grand I ever spent. Oh and the Sager one is Crap too the design runs hotter then hell. and damned if I dont get only 1.5 hrs of batterylife on both batteries combined. See the alienware 51-m revisited thread.
