i don't know what happened... prolly a power surge or something (our surge protectors blow, which is dumb since we're all on, like, $10,000 machines). anyhoo, i came in and started up IE and it gave me an error message... something like "The application Internet Explorer quit unexpectedly". no joke. so it would initialize, give that message and then shut down the app. so i downloaded a fresh .dmg and reinstalled. now a small blank error window comes up, and then the app shuts down. i've followed Apple's instructions on uninstalling and then reinstalling IE, but it hasn't worked. and Apple has no advertised support email addy. punks. so if any Mac users know what the dilly yo, please reply. my bosses want to pack up my machine and ship it back to Apple to replace. i don't wanna back up all my shizzle!!!

I don't have a real answer for you but some good advice....

DON'T USE IE ON OS X

They aren't supporting it anymore for one. It was a good browser 3-5 years ago, sorta like Netscape 4.7 was for Windows. Secondly, it does a horrible job of executing java and javascript, and it doesn't even know what web standards are just MS BS standards.

My suggestion is use Safari or Mozilla or Netscape 7.

Safari's the best browser out there.

thanks for the advice, but i have to test websites in IE.

in addition, IE worked perfectly in OSX. never had a problem.

Did you try doing this...start up OS 9 from the preference pane, and then run the IE version that's for 9? Or delete that and install both copies again...

Oh yea IE 5.2 for OS 9 and IE 5.2 for OS X don't even display the same as each other.

i know Mac IE and Windows IE don't display the same. that's exactly why we test with Mac IE.

IE for OS9 still works fine, but you're right: they don't display the same. that's why i need to test in OSX as well as OS9.
