Figured out my problems, there aren't any drivers for my raid controller card (old and not Vista compatible), so I'm ordering a new controller card that is Vista compatible, which will work with Windows 7

I have the Windows 7 beta. Its a lot better than vista, and in my case, a lot better than xp too

I have my Vista looking like Windows 2000. I reckon I'll do the same with this. It's fricken ugly.

I've got a triple boot: XP/Vista/Ubuntu, and I'd like to try out 7. Is there any way that I can do a normal hdd install from the install disk without it rewriting my MBR? Or would it just be easier to use a VM?
(speed is a consideration here, my laptop is only 2ghz.)

Triple boot on a laptop doesn't sound too good to me (even dual boot would be too much, because of limited resources on a laptop). If you really want to try Windows 7, I would recommend just installing VirtualPC on your Windows system and try it from there. However, running Windows 7 from a virtual machine will only give you the opportunity to take a look at the new interface (GUI) and applications, because you won't get the same performance as if you would run it from a separate partition.

The only resource it really affects is the hard drive, and I've got 250 GB to eat up, so that's not a problem. I've already got VirtualBox on Ubuntu, I'll try it out there. Or maybe under XP. I dunno.
EDIT: Yeah, I know VM's cause a giant performance drop. I'm mostly interested in looking around.
