How to calculate the worth of a domain?

Posted 08 January 2009 - 11:38 PM

hi there,

there are a lot of sites where you can calculate the worth of a domain
BUT!

is there a certain , specific and standardised way of calculating it?
i mean a standard given by some organisation or they just calculate
it using these factors like alexa, google page rank, domain age etc

and is there a standard which allocates these factors specific %ages
of the total worth?

Truly, a domain is only worth what you can sell it for, or what someone is willing to pay for it. To my knowledge, there are no formal methods.

However, you may want to check this topic that offers some results.

Do you know the algorithms of calculation at SmartPageRank?

You are absolutely correct!

When I 1st posted this, the PR was in fact working for SmartPageRank. However, about a few weeks later, everything shows PR0.

so you mean they have different algorithms for different sites offering the service?

i mean if i want to put that service on my site , i have to dev my own algo?
