17.99 Best buy - this is quality programming well worth the cost. Plus I didn't feel like waiting for netflix to get them to me :)

Lol - yeah they are quick to charge, but I would call and complain about that.

Netflix is not impressive streaming via Xbox Live - the movies are utter and total ass. They need to put movies I want to watch and not Stars picks, I have Starz with my cable provider and it sucks never show any good movies.

I am sorry but Ice Pirates is not on top of my list to watch on 360.

I agree, they could have a much better selection.. But some of them are pretty good.. It's mainly my girlfriend who picks em (i.e. "The Other Sister").. Uggh lol

On topic :

I don't think the course will do anyone real good. I mean, can social skills really be taught? This is one of the few things on this earth where experience is the key. You just have to go out there and meet real person. How do they intend to teach you how to socialize in a multinational company?

You are right, but i think it still helps, at least it gives a push for people to socialize even if the program did not make those people completely sociable... but it may more introduce people to the importance of socializing and its impact on their lives, thus, people start t socialize by themselves :)

Nerds don't need social skills, just money. All's we've got to say to women is hi I'm a programmer who makes 6-7 digits, wanna come back to my house for some action. You'll pick up all the bimbos. :P

Well, i'm only 13, and i do have some social skills, but i bet i would learn a thing or two from that class. Computer programmers have developed a stereotype in the general society: buck-toothed introverts that never talk with thick glasses that have masking tape in the middle. Though this is true for a very small percentage of developers, most developers and computer-centric persons are just like anyone else you would ever meet. Take this site; we are a programming and web development community whose sole purpose on this planet is to provide help to fellow members and provide a place where developers and "computer nerds" can converse. Yet, in just the time i've been here, we've had threads about football, tattoos, funny YouTube vids, and things you'd find on any other forum anywhere in the world. The "nerd" stereotype that has developed around developers is widely exaggerated, however, most of us do have some slight impairment in our social abilities because of the vast amount of time we have spent alone at our computers. I do not disagree with the idea of this class. The most social developer in the world could always benefit from a social skills class.

The nerd has evolved ;) This is a quote in a Discovery Channel add, i like it very much :) , nerds and geeks today are different than those of the past just as all kinds of people evolve(cool people, celebrities, idiots, show offs...) and we are also people so we also evolved :)

No; we've always been that bad. There have been social skills courses, seminars, and books forever. Dale Carnegie has been slinging his schtick for almost 100 years, for example. Who was before him?

Re: Nerds needing social skills..

actually today, the student society coordinator at my university(he is responsible for all the social stuff that goes around) has requested me to meet him at his office and was really mad at me, why? well because of being a geek AND as he said "lacking" LOTS of social skills, he told me that he has studied my case and was observing me in the campus(of course i didn't know about that) and derived to a conclusion that i was an extreme nerd with some shyness... :( he told me that 95% of my time when i have no courses he either sees me in the computer lab(i would be most probably on D.I.C. or solving a programming problem) or hanging with other few geeks that he says they also need social skills, or simply sitting by myself with my best friend(the laptop),he told me that he talked to the counselor and they have also seen all the geeks in the university and derived that we all lack social skills, we are not so much sociable with others, and we have a some level of shyness, in addition he was even more mad at me because i am not involved in ANY club except in the Computer Programming Society club which is definitely full of geeks like me, so he has put all our names on a list and he is going to prepare a socializing workshop for some days for us so that we can develop our social skills and overcome the level of shyness we may have(although i doubt i have shyness... it is just lack of social skills) i hope that program would be beneficial for me on the level of sociability and i hope i wont be just losing my time in that workshop thing... anyways this is the latest news about me for the topic of nerds needing social skills.... i didn't think i was that bad though :(

I think this is a pretty good initiative. Some people really need to learn better social skills. I mean some of the people you run into really make you wonder. However, I don't think IT students stand out as victim of poor social skills. It could be anyone.
