Windows Me

Posted 15 September 2003 - 05:07 PM

Hi.

i've got a problem win windows ME so that when i restart the computer (weatrher buy start > shutdown > restart or using the restart switch) it won't detect my hard drive, there's a long pause while it tries to detect the IDE devices - it detects the cd/r and dvd player but no the hard drive. but if i powe off, then reboot all is fine.

does anyone have any idea why this is?

dude
thats not a problem with win-me
win-me doesnt detect IDE devices on boot-up, your motherboard does
theres probably something wrong with your motherboard, or the hard-drive

flash your BIOS, maybee that could help. are your IDE cables in correctly? and are your motherboard drivers all installed? but Windows ME in my opinion sucks some big balls

I'd have to concur on that statement.

And how long has this problem been going on? If it just started up, its probably not a problem with your BIOS, unless you've made some major changes. Just try to think of something you might have done in recent memory to cause the problem.
