Itunes Vs Napster: A Side By Side Comparison

Posted 29 October 2003 - 08:57 PM

iTunes: Great interface, great music store, great at burning cd's, does everything the way it was meant.

Napster: Sucks ass.

there you have it, use iTunes, don't use napster. Even if its just because napster says your 'Cool" when you register.

napster was the coolest p2p filesharing app EVER. i don't know what this POS with the name "Napster" on it is, but it's not Napster. Napster is dead.

oh, and way to copy Apple's $.99 downloads. really thinking outside the box there, Fanning. a real businessman would have made them $.90 or something. geez, try competing instead of just keeping up with the times.

Napster = shoddy ripoff of iTunes, with nothing too 'cool' going on.

iTunes = Another crappy idea from Apple to sell shit for macintosh OS's only.

They both suck for their own reasons... Thank good that we still have the option to buy CD's

Napster == Unflushable poop

iTunes == trendy legal filesharing, requires signup, credit card, downloading, selling your soul, etc

The Wal-mart down the street == Pay with cash, out the door in 5 minutes if the lines aren't bad. Also, you get a nice case, a real CD, and some cool cover art.

It's simple. The internet music sites suck, real life rules. buying one song at a time sucks usually. Stuff like itunes and Napster means less selection if you aren't a trendwhore. Don't get me wrong, I love the internet, I buy lots of rare and hard to get CD's there. But chances are my town will have what I'm looking for at fairly good price. Also, if you are going to pay a dollar for every song, why not just get on ebay and buy the cd for like $4. Meh, I don't know, maybe I'm just missing the whole point. But typically I am not one to just want one song from a cd...

I forgot you're the marketing master.

Obviouslly there has been many expenses put forth in people who decide how to market /advertise it, and if they choose competing at .99 a song, then it was for a good reason.

or you know, maybe you put all your cds into itunes and watch them all land perfectly in your music folder just the way you want, allowing you to listen to whatever you want whenever you want without getting off your ass. I don't use iTunes Store and i still consider iTunes some kick ass software.

yeah, that brings up a good point , iTunes is not a pay-and-download music program , it is a music player just like Windows Media player or Winamp, the stoe is just one of the extra features just like the streaming options. the store is a optional feautre, and people are refering to iTunes like the store is all it has.

well this was an itunes vs napster thread and seeing as all they have in common is the ability to purchase music it was bound to come up.
