Configuration required for SAP in a Windows PC

Posted 30 January 2009 - 12:29 AM

I am planning to purchase a new system and wish to install SAP for learning purpose. In addition to SAP I will be using Visual Studio 2005/2008 , SQL Server 2005/2008 and other common application programs.

Plz suggest the optimum configuration to run SAP and the other applications smoothly. I have few questions also -

What is the difference between dual core and quad core processors ? which is better for SAP?

What motherboard is suitable? what features should it have?
What should be the minimum harddrive for all of the above to run properly?

Plz give any SAP specific information if you have also. :)

Contact SAP support. http://www.sap.com/

Visual Studio and SQL Server don't require a beast of a machine. Low-end Pentium Dual-Core, P35-based motherboard 2 GB RAM would be fine.

Dual-core means a processor has two processing cores, quad-core means it has four.
