Star Wars fan here, although George Lucas should be burnt at the stake for JarJar Binks (and indeed most of episodes 1, 2 & 3).
Star Trek was ok, but not as good as the original Star wars trilogy.
Also, as Baavgai said, the RPG is great, and some of the books are brilliant.

I'll chime in as I told two nerds who, shockingly, were out in public... at a bar... drinking... and were escalating their argument into a loud whine: Babylon 5 kicks both their butts.
If I had to chose – DS9 eclipsed STNG a long time ago, but both of those outweigh starwars by shear content and longevity. Lucas is trying hard to catch up with the Clonewar crap-isodes on Cartoon Network, but that will only water down the franchise. DS9 had a great plot arch at the end, while STNG was all about reversing the polarity on something.
Side note no.. Voyager sucked. Get over it.

Star Trek all the way. I doubt a lightsaber could deflect a phaser.

A "Lightsabre" is technology at play, it's made from (I'd say but then I'd look like a lame "Star Wars fan")... something.
Star Trek is about exploration, curiosity (which means you're right on the spot, SciFi!).

I still stand for Stargate. Star trek & Star wars are passed their prime, but Stargate still has a lot more episodes and movies to go before it dies.

He's never mentioned StarGate or any other "SciFi" type shows.
While we're talking off topic, who here loves The Twilight Zone?

I have only seen TOS, but I think I like it better than episodes 1-3 easily. 4-6 are still better, but. Captain Kirk. Is so. awesome. possibly cooler than. Yoda.
