I like how the most innocent conversations in the lounge turn into crazy topics about stuff like this.

That's because there are always a select few looking for conflict. They thrive on it.

A woman I work with has these pages laminated and hung at her desk. They are from the actual magazine from 55.

I found it pretty amusing and wanted to share. Pretty crazy that this was EXPECTED of women back in the 50's and so on.

Now I can see why you women hate men :P

Honestly, I will just never get this right, but don't blame me for trying..., no women as a rule do not hate men, remember half the rules were made by women.
If women r meant to cook and clean, then well does not mean they are'nt dreaming about programming while they r busy, ask my husband he should know.. by the way if u can find him I'm offering a reward

I personally agree with the article, things were fine until woman started becoming the 'man' in the relationships. I am however more lenient on it since in this world we both usually work, and woman are not slaves. So the man doing some chores is fine with me, theirs just a point where the mans the head of the house, and some work is better suited for a man and some better for a woman, i.e Your not going to let your wife clean the gutter or install the irrigation system, not that she cant do it, its just not right to let her, but instead she takes care of the house (inside). I dunno I'm personally old school. Each person has a role in their life they need to fulfill and each person should stick to their role.

NOTE:
I am talking here about Married people not single but the same closely applies... To me at least.

This is a total aside from the thread. :: cough ::

BenignDesign IS FEMALE!?!?!?!?!

I've read hundreds of your posts and never thought that was the case.

I'm thinking I'm a bit dense perhaps.

Easy way to slove this out side of what Baavgai has already pointed out...click on her name and look at her profile.

In an attempt to drag the thread back on topic...

That article was funny. I think one of my high school teachers showed it to our class. What amazes me is that people still get riled about it. It happened, but it happened *past tense*.

I wonder, why is this topic mainly about equality of men and women? The '55 article was pointed towards a good wife, as such, (if my assumptions about that time period are correct) most women "worked" at home.

That said, some of the points I disagree with, in particular the staying out late ones without letting the wife know where you're at. Back then though, it probably was more acceptable to not send notification, seeing how telephones didn't have the penetration they do now (and cellphones!).
