ACER Aspire 5735Z-324G32Mi boot problem

Yestreday I bought a new ACER Aspire 5735Z-324G32Mi.

I switched the notebook on but cannot get it to install my Windows OS from the disc. In fact I can't get it to do anything.

The notebook also does not read the resource dvd. (What is a Resource DVD ??)

It just asks for [[email protected]/]#

I have tried pressing delete on start up but there is only one drive to choose from ... There is no dvd drive option

Please advise what I should do.

I would also like to ask which OS you would recommend for installing onto the notebook, Windows XP or Vista ?

Since it's new I would call the place that you bought it. If they sold you a used &/or defective one, you want to get that taken care of right away.
