Socialized Healthcare already exists in America. It's called the Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital. Ask any veteran that's had to deal with the VA and I'm sure most will tell you it's a complete mess. Free is good. But you get what you pay for.

Well one thing I can attest to is:

With the 2nd Amendment scare and speculation coming from the current camp. Firearms sales at my work have been through the roof and at least until legislation is passed I can say my position is pretty secure. :)

I know I sure don't want my country to fail. I love my country, however I do not love big governments and government controlled economic sectors.

Obama has accomplished what took Mussolini and Hitler 10 years to accomplish - minus the racism (Hitler).

Quote

Fascism: a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.

Judging by what I have seen so far from the Obama regime, that definition stands true.

edit - I have a feeling this is going to get heated.

Ahh another Conservative bashing thread, I thought all of this was behind us but I see Liberals are never happy.

Obama will fail, he is spending us into the poor house. Considering not a single Republican is supporting his spending spree when he does fail it will be the downfall of the Democrats.

Yes, because Conservatives have been historically been so quiet and demure. You know, like the always gracious Mr. Limbaugh. :P

No matter who inherited the Bush legacy, they were screwed. That was pretty much a given. The real problem is the "not a single Republican is supporting". If most don't support policies of a new liberal Pres, that's reasonably understandable. If all don't, then it's just a political pissing contest and no one wins. This will probably help unite the Democrats, but that's just as useless. The two party system seems irrevocably broken and ultimately that's the real problem.

As much as everyone would like to blame W. Bush for the current economic crisis, you can't. This has been several decades in the making, for better or for worse.

I could not agree with you any more than that statement right there.

So the real solution to the problem is "increase spending beyond comprehensible proportions" and have the "Government" step in and take over our banks, business and law enforcement agencies at a state level? I tend to disagree, this is not a solution but creates a bigger problem.

I am not the biggest fan of the Bush regime either, however to put all the blame on him is ludicrous especially with a liberal controlled congress helping him along.

<off topic>
@Baavgi - how you liking the G1?

</off topic>

I tend to listen to Glenn Beck more than Mr. Limbaugh, however Michael Savage is another voice that entertains me throughout the night.

I guess what the left fails to do to convince me, a more to the right kind of guy is how is all of this irrelevant spending proposed by Obama going to help. I mean there is so much fat still on this proposal that I would need to be institutionalized if I did support it. To me it is the old you scratch my back, I will scratch yours routine coming from Camp Obama!

edit - two new posts came in. Yes Libertarian is looking more and more like the most viable solution at this time.

Nykc, dude...how has Obama got "complete power" (he's still got the Congress) and certainly you don't have any examples of him "forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism."

Right? That sounds like some of left-wing loonies the last few years in response to Bush. Don't go that way...that way lies MADNESS!

Hell, I voted Libertarian in 2004 and 2008! Fat lot of good that did me :)

Agreed. All solutions suck, actually.

I'd be happier with "stimulus" if it wasn't so obviously pork inspired. It's like a blind congressional feeding frenzy; something needs to be done, but not before the pound of flesh is taken. And no one, not even Obama in spite of all of his prior lip service, can stop it. I suspect the reason the Republicans are playing the way they are is not so much an objection to spending as a desire for a bigger portion of pork. It's honestly all very sad.

Moot issue at this point. And there's no "forceful suppression" inherent in the Fairness Doctrine (although I find it loathsome myself). And Obama apparently did not support it either.

And now I must go clean up after having to "defend" those two things...

I actually like Obama, but now his new policies are a little disconcerting. I've said somewhere else that he better know what he's doing and that we will see who I vote for 4 years from now.

America gives you the right to vote. You are asked you opinion of candidate for Presidency & you voted.

I say kudos to you for voicing your real opinion, & not just picking a probably leader.

Besides, Libertarianism is going to need to grow from the lower levels up. Throwing any 3rd party leader into Presidency without anyone supporting his or her decisions under them will be an absolute mess.
