Post icon  Posted 10 March 2009 - 05:19 AM

hi
due to some problem i interrupted an installation of windows firsttime.

again i installed windows xp on the same drive. it was completed successfully.

but the problem is, at the time of booting the system is asking me to select
one of the options from the following two

windowsxp professional
windows

if i select windowsxp professional it's working fine

if i select windows nothing is being displayed.

so i want to remove this entry from the bootmenu.(want to remove windows entry but windowsxp professional should be intact)

how can i do this

any help please.
thanks

Open c:\boot.ini in notepad or any other text editor.
Remove the desired entry and save the file.

It's hidden because it's a system file.

Open notepad, & just type in the exact path.

File -> Open -> C:\boot.ini

or delete the entry in boot tab of msconfig
start->run(or search bar)type: msconfig
can also set default timeout from there
