Getting a DVD burner.
Want: LiteOn DVD-+R/RW (SOHW-832S) Double Layer
or
LiteOn DVD-+R/RW (SOHW-1213S) faster.. but no double-layer..
Question: wtf does DVD-R: x8, DVD-RW: x4, DVD+R: x12, DVD+RW: x4 mean? ie. difference between DVD-R and DVD+R??

from what i undeerstand they are just two formats that different companies have thrown their weight behind, but are actually pretty similiar. i havent paid much attention though, and couldnt tell you what the speed differences are.

All I know is that some DVD players (Computer DVD drives included) only play + or -, not both. A lot of newer DVD players can deal with both types, but I'd do some research on which type is used more by whoever you want to be able to play your DVDs.

I went with the Retail Pioneer A07 for $150 from new egg
Software was not correct as listed the software that came with the burner was ulead the pinnicle studio 8 came with the all in wonder 9800

My Lite-On has been as reliable as my old Plextor... but for way less.
