Win XP Rumors

Posted 20 March 2009 - 03:58 PM

Hi there, I have heard this rumor from my classmate, he said that WinXP will not be updating anymore, because the Microsoft company will not release this OS anymore.
Is it true??

They will phase it out as they do always, but will most likely be after win 7 is finished.

A recent trend that Microsoft has started is that they will comment that they are going to stop "supporting" an OS. The idea behind this is to push companies that pay for support to upgrade to the newest product. Then Microsoft will release some numbers in a report & say that "Due to current numbers, we will now extend support to date X". They did this with Windows 2000, & it looks like they will continue to do this with XP.

They'll keep updating it at least until after Windows 7 is released. Too many are still using XP.

Uhm... to be fair, how long was Vista in development prior to release? I believe it was even called Long Horn for like 2 years. Not far off is way to general of a term for Microsoft :)

In other words, I wouldn't hold my breath.
