I just bought an NEC 16X Double Layer DVD±RW Drive, Model ND-3500A BG at http://www.newegg.co...-152-031&DEPA=1 and installed it, problem is, windows recognizes it as a generic dvd drive rather than a burner, so i can't use it for anything. I can't find any drivers due to the fact windows 'should be able to use it already as is' and other such asshattery that isn't actually true.
so, any ideas? never installed one of these before

might help to say what version of windows you are running, you shouldnt have to install drivers for a burner
