VB.net Windows remote Assitance in Vista as well as XP

Post icon  Posted 30 March 2009 - 11:45 AM

Hi, im trying to create a quick method to enable one of my "less" talented receptionist staff to establich a remote desktop connection to my computer. I have done some google-ing and I have found that its possible but how would you do it?

This is a learning post more a point in the direction for a good tutorial than code (though it would help)

Erm how would you use this, would it mean that I would have to put the dll's or binarys on the other computer.

And would this be the part to go on the reception computer or mine?

actually it works on vnc protocol. you can search for google on it

theres a vnc server and a vnc client

vnc server is installed at the machine you want control( i would rather say assist) or view

and client is installed on your machine

Just out of curiosity why not just use the Remote Desktop provided by Microsoft? simple as knowing the computer name and if there is a login/password for the machine..

Bad thing about VNC is it broadcasts a URL signal for the computers to be able to interact with each other. Not completely secure in my mind. And actually most decent anti-virus programs or anti-spy ware programs will recognize it as a threat and try and deal with it..

Is it a particular website(s) you want to be blocked or just that they are working in general?
