Apparently the RC is ready according to Microsoft. So we'll see if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

RC = Release Copy

Just a small correction - RC stands for Release Candidate.

And seems like Windows 7 is going to be a large improvement compared to previous Windows operating systems - both from the performance and features points of view. I would consider the beta version (which I was using for a while in a virtual environment) pretty impressive, therefore the final release should be really good.

Is it supposed to be priced around what vista is/was?

I wouldn't expect it to be higher. The pricing for Vista is pretty well-established, therefore I would say that it should be in the same range.

I Just spoke with a Microsoft rep the other day about this. They will have multiple versions with the same names... Basic/Home/Professional/Ultimate. I would expect the same pricing as vista with that respect.

Don't forget Starter, the one that gets all the flak.

I'm running the 64 bit version of Windows 7 and have zero issues with it. I do like how even the 32 bit version recognizes all 4 GB of memory my wife is running on her system (yes I have converted her to dual-booting as well, Ubuntu is next lol)

Have you tried running Sage Accounts on it ?

Three things. I'm assuming isn't doesn't work, otherwise you wouldn't have asked.

A) It doesn't list Windows 7 support, so don't expect it to work.

B ) Sage Accounts is not the only software of its kind and I can name several, both free and paid, that do work on windows 7

C) Once again, as I've said before, if you have to use it everyday and it doesn't work on Windows 7, don't use it. However, Don't imply Windows 7 is a bad OS becuase it doesn't support Program X, that's program X's problem.

I used the Beta when it was first released to the public.
Other than the fact that it screwed up all my MP3 files (MS released a patch for that later), Win7 kicks ass. I love it a lot more because it can run on lesser system requirements than Vista.

Hi,

Not knocking Win7 at all - I'm having a go at 64bit OS version. Sage is supposed to be one of the top accounting packages but when we upgraded to 64bit XP - we found that Sage don't support 64bit OS!
I'm all in favour of Win 7 - I'm running V.7057 32bit and reckon it's excellent - big improvement on Vista - so much quicker and seems to be a tad better thought out.
Oh, by the way this D.I.C is probably the best thing I have ever discovered. I'm so glad I found you guys.

Ah. Sorry, usually when someone mentions that something doesn't work in windows it's followed up by a rant about how awful microsoft is and why they should die. My knee jerk reaction is now to remind them it's not the OSes responsibility to make the program work.

I don't think it is up t the OS to make things work. There are just too many applications out there to do. Can you imagine coding support for the millions of applications individually into your OS. And then most people will not use most of those applications so your OS will become bloated more than it needs to. It's up to the application manufacturers to determine which OS's they want to support and to fix any bugs relating to that OS.
