How to make signatures

Posted 14 April 2009 - 09:43 AM

I don't have photoshop available to me all the time, I do have paint, is it possible to make a decent signature in paint?
Also, are there any free photoshop type editors that can be downloaded?

Thanks.

Basically, a decent signature can be created using any graphic editor. It all depends on the user's experience and available material (like pictures or fonts).

Speaking about a free graphic editor with extended functionalities, I would recommend Paint .NET which has many of the features needed for advanced image editing. Of course, it is not Photoshop and it lacks the majority of its possibilities, but it has support for many plug-ins, so after a period of learning you can do some great graphics using this application.

It is available here: http://www.getpaint.net

If you are looking into free software for 2D graphics, I would recommend Gimp, I used it for about 5 years prior to having PS available in any form. I still use it for most of the stuff, while keeping PS around for filters and some of their tool aspects.

In many way Gimp and PS are the smae program, they just have a few different implementations and names for the same things, and a few differences in the way stuff works, but as free software goes Gimp is pretty great.

You can find Gimp at http://www.gimp.org
Enjoy.

Or use the DIC footer template

You can open it using Paint.NET.
You'll need THIS PLUG-IN.

No, I don't.
I figured out a way to make the one I have now in regular "paint". I'm currently looking into the paint.net that was suggested earlier.

Thank You all!

Paint.NET is good. But if you are using regular paint you can make some nice looking pixel art images, takes time and patience but the outcome CAN be good. Although designing the entire sig in paint would look awful but is okay for making small images to add onto the sig.

I'd recommend GIMP or GIMPshop

Best thing to do is find a piece of you feel comfortable with and that does what you want it to do.
