My computer at work...

Posted 17 April 2009 - 03:10 AM

Hi people,

totally need some help. I got this computer at work, Mecer, 40G HDD, 256MB RAM, old stuff I know. Everyday I have this urge to just throw this piece of junk out the window, then I imagine the next thing is I'll probably get fired.

I've used up all my space on the hard drive, I have absolutely no idea what to do. I've tried uninstalling most of the stuff I don't need, but still I do not know what could be taking up so much space.

Any ideas?

Find an equpiment request form, fill it out, hand it to your employer, tell them it don't work and smile.

In the TuneUp Utilities toolkit there's a utility called "Disk Space Explorer" which can tell you the top 100 files(by size) on your HD, the percentage of file types, etc.

You can get the 30-day trial HERE

Also, you can free up disk space by running the Windows Washer utility.

Or try free CCleaner.

Why do you need a program to look through your hard drive? Can't you do that?

Surely there is a department at your place of employment that supports the desktops. If they refuse to fix it, then there really isn't much that you can (or should) do. It's their policy, & you are pretty much stuck with it.
